Spring Records was an American soul label, founded in 1968 by Bill Spitalsky, Julie Rifkind and Roy Rifkind. Together they formed Guardian Productions, an artist management company that had a roster including Flip Wilson, Little Eva, and The Shirelles, and the record label was the next logical step. Julie Rifkind had a long history with MGM Records, headed MGM's subsidiary Cub Records, and co-founded Bang Records.
Spring and its subsidiary Event became an important outlet for early 1970s funk and soul music with artists such as Millie Jackson, Joe Simon and The Fatback Band. In 1980, Spring formed another subsidiary, Posse Records. The label was active until the late 1980s and distributed by Polydor.
