Label Guide: Sonet
Sonet Records (Sonet Grammofon AB) was a Swedish jazz and blues label, founded by Sven Lindholm and Gunnar Bergström in 1957. The label expanded in the early 1960s by setting up offices throughout Scandinavia and Europe, followed by the United Kingdom in 1968. Sonet released both new material and reissues by artists from Denmark and Sweden (Alrune Rod, Arne Domnerus, Lars Gullin), but also a large number of American Jazz albums (Chet Baker, Benny Carter, Don Cherry, Art Farmer).
Lindholm und Bergström led the company into the 1980s. Sonet was sold to PolyGram in 1991 and is now part of Universal Music Group.
