Pentagram Records was a small Los Angeles-based label, formed in 1970 by Al Schmitt, Steve Douglas and Bob Applegate. Schmitt was an accomplished recording engineer (Henry Mancini, Cal Tjader, Rosemary Clooney, Sam Cooke) and he worked as an independent producer for Jefferson Airplane, Jackson Browne and Neil Young before he launched Pentagram. But the label didn't take off, only seven albums were released before Pentagram Records folded in late 1971.
