Muse Records was an American jazz label, founded in 1972 by Joe Fields, who had previously worked as an executive for Prestige Records. Muse released over 500 LPs during its lifespan, most of them original recordings, but also reissues of albums that had been released on other labels before, like Cobblestone Records. In the late 1970s, Muse partnered with the Dutch Timeless Records to distribute Timeless Muse. Muse Records was sold in 1996 to 32 Jazz, which repackaged and reissued a large amount of Muse recordings. In 2003, Savoy Jazz (which had become a subsidiary of Nippon Columbia) acquired the rights to the Muse catalog.
Muse Records (1959) was a very short-lived subsidiary of Herald Records in the United States. This label, unrelated to the jazz label above, didn't exist for very long and only one album was released in 1959, as far as we know.
