Buena Vista Records was founded in 1959 as the second record label of the Disney Music Group, the first one being 1956's Disneyland Records. Buena Vista was targeting an adult audience, and most of its releases were original movie soundtracks from classic, mostly live-action Disney films, as well as recordings by actors then under contract to Disney, such as Annette Funicello and Hayley Mills.
The Buena Vista label was in operation under the Walt Disney umbrella until 2007. It is now semi-retired and only operates as an imprint of Walt Disney Records for selected releases.
