Bluesville was a blues music subsidiary of Prestige Records, active between 1960 and 1964. It was one of the three Prestige Specialty Labels at the time, the others being Moodsville and Swingville. Recording and pressing quality is on par with the main Prestige label, and rumour says that Prestige created these new labels as a device to reduce tax liabilities on sales on the primary label.
When Bluesville was closed in late 1964, several of its albums were re-released on the main Prestige label with the same catalogue numbers but a PR- prefix.
