Action Records was started in 1968 as the successor of Island Records' R&B and Soul subsidiary Sue Records. From 1964 on, Island used the Sue label to distribute American Sue in the UK, but when they started to license recordings from other US labels and released them on Sue, the American Sue label was not amused and Island rebranded its Soul subsidiary as Action Records.
Action was run by John Abbey and a total of 12 albums and more than 50 singles were released in 1968 and 1969.
