Period Records was a high-end classical label, started in the early 1950s. From 1954 on, the label also released a small series of blues and jazz LPs, including albums by Django Reinhardt, Thad Jones, Charles Mingus and Big Bill Broonzy. Those recordings are collectible today as they were released with the same pristine recording and pressing quality as the label's classical music line.
Period went out of business in 1958, but the label was acquired by the Everest Group in 1965.
