Date Records was a subsidiary of Columbia Records which had two different incarnations. The first incarnation was a short-lived rockabilly label in 1958 which released a bunch of singles but no albums. The label was relaunched in 1966 under the helms of Columbia executive Tom Noonan to promote Columbia's acquired and independently produced recordings.
The most successful acts on the Date label were Peaches & Herb and The Zombies. The label design was never changed for all 16 album releases on Date Records. In 1970, Columbia decided to discontinue the label and move its remaining artists to its Columbia or Epic imprints.
