Label Guide: Hip

Hip Records was a subsidiary of Stax Records, founded in 1966. Although there were plenty of singles releases, the label put out only four albums between 1969 and 1972. Hip was intended to complement Stax's successful black music labels Stax and Volt as a pop-rock label, but the project never really took off and Hip Records was discontinued in 1972.
