Blue Horizon Records was an independent British Blues Label, founded by Mike Vernon in 1965. The label has its roots in Vernon's mail order label Purdah Records and the first two LP releases were printed in very small numbers and distributed only by mail, hence the very high prices on the collectors market today.
A world-wide licensing and distribution deal with CBS in 1967 heralded the glory years of the label. Blue Horizon produced chart hit singles for Fleetwood Mac and Chicken Shack and a string of albums in imaginative sleeves. The label stayed with CBS until mid 1970, when Polydor took over. The blues boom died away and Blue Horizon ceased production in early 1972.
