Allied Records was a 1960s Canadian underground label, founded by Jack Boswell. Besides distributing the Elektra label in Canada, Boswell produced several local psychedelic rock bands including The Nihilist Spasm Band, The Folklords, Plastic Cloud and Reign Ghost, and released their albums in small print runs on Allied. Most of those releases are now highly collectible and achieve high prices on the market.
There are still huge gaps in our Allied discography, and we don't know if those missing numbers were even released. At least they never show up on the market. But what we do know is that Allied Records shared a numbering system for their psych releases with Paragon Records, another label founded by Jack Boswell. Canadian psych rock pioneer Bob Bryden (Reign Ghost, Christmas) said: "Paragon and Allied are practically the same, only the producer Jack Boswell worked for Allied but he owned Paragon."
